  2. Question 2 of 2
    2. Question

    Clinical Description:

81 year old male patient with two weeks of abdominal and backpain which has increased in severity today with collapse. Slightly hypotensive.

    Is there a rupturing AAA?
    Correct

In images 1 & 8 a heterogenous mass is present to the right of the Aorta which is suggestive of a haematoma and in this clinical scenario likely represents a contained rupture. This patient needs immediate simultaneous treatment, CT scan and referral to Anaesthetics and Vascular surgery. Even without the ultrasound finding of the heterogenous mass, in the clinical setting and the finding of a large AAA, a rupture is assumed so the management would be the same.

    Incorrect
