Ioan Sporea

Professor of Gastroenterology, “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara, Romania. Since 2017 member of the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences. Past President of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SRUMB) (2006-2010) and Past President of the Romanian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2013-2015). Author and co-author of more than 300 original papers (PubMed publications), with a Hirsch index of 46, author and co-author of 35 medical books and of 16 educational medical CDs and DVDs, co-author of 15 EFSUMB and WFUMB Guidelines.

–WFUMB: Chair of the Congress Committee (2021-2023), 2017-2021 Director of the WFUMB COE Task Force Europe, Director of the WFUMB Center of Education (COE) Timișoara since 2007

Co-Director of Ultrasound Learning Center at UEGW (United  European Gastroenterological Week) for 4 years. Co-Director at WGO Congress (World Gastroenterological Organisation) Ultrasound Learning Course 2021.

Reviewer for many important journals (mainly ultrasound)  and invited speaker to many international conferences.

Main area of interested in field of ultrasound: CEUS, Liver Elastography.
